The Craft Council of BC (CCBC) is in urgent need of financial donations! We need to raise $97,000 by September 30th, 2024 in order to keep our doors open and continue the important work of supporting craft based communities in BC!
We are a registered, charitable arts service organization that supports all stages of artistic practice in the craft sector and creates opportunities for artists to exhibit, sell, and produce art. We also provide a voice for artists and craft organizations and aid in developing active communities around craft. Our work has a ripple effect across the province – we empower the next generation of craft artisans by supporting current makers. You can be a part of this too!

Why do we need funding?
The Craft Council of British Columbia and our craft community is important to the cultural fabric of BC but we rely primarily on grants to operate. Unfortunately, the chronic underfunding we have always faced has worsened over the past year. Our organization's funding has decreased significantly by $10,000 from the BC Arts Council and the City of Vancouver in the past year. The deficit in funding was worsened by the deficits our social enterprise, the CCBC Shop & Gallery, has incurred over the past three years. The deficits in 2021 and 2022 were due to the impact of COVID-19 and continued lower footfall numbers on Granville Island than pre-COVID. The combination of these situations has depleted any reserves we had, and with less funding coming in, it puts us in a dire situation.
We are calling on you, our CCBC Shop and Gallery supporters, members, community groups, guilds, artists and fine craft collectors to donate!
The Craft Council’s goal is to raise $97,000 by September 30th, 2024. These funds will ensure the continuation of programs, such as our CCBC Gallery, our advocacy work, and our awards program. Join us in the continuation of supporting craft based communities around the province! We encourage you to personally donate and invite your network to raise funds for the Craft Council! Each donation over $25 will receive a receipt for income tax purposes. Donating monthly is another practical and powerful way to give your support to CCBC.
