9 x 21 x 23 cm
stoneware
This abstract sculptural piece would make a unique piece of home decor! Finished with a gray, atmospheric glaze that gives it the feel of having been dug out of the earth itself.
Jinny Whitehead was president of the Potters Guild of BC from 2005 to 2012, and was a tireless advocate for BC ceramics and the documentation of its history in our province. After beginning her work with clay in 1983, Jinny eventually founded a co-operative studio in Vancouver with four other potters. Firing with sawdust or wood particularly suits the natural and organic forms Jinny creates by combining throwing and hand-building techniques. As the flame passes through the kiln it embraces each pot in its path, depositing ash and giving life to its surface and character to its form.
